What do I need to renew my hypothyroidism medication through iVisitDoc?
To request a virtual prescription renewal, please upload a clear image of your most recent hypothyroidism prescription—this can be a photo of the prescription label or a screenshot from your medical records.
If you’re requesting more than a 30-day supply, you’ll also need to submit lab results from a thyroid panel done within the last 12 months (PDF or image format accepted).
If your provider finds concerns in your labs, they may recommend an in-person visit with a primary care provider rather than renewing the prescription virtually.

Medication costs may be covered by your health insurance.

Pro Tip
Start with lifestyle adjustments—like avoiding trigger foods, elevating your head while sleeping, and eating smaller meals. Medications work best when paired with healthy habits.

Your questions answered
iVisitDoc Care & Access
What are my telehealth options for hypothyroidism treatment?
With iVisitDoc, you can request a virtual visit to renew your hypothyroidism medication, such as levothyroxine, based on your health history and recent lab results.
Can I use my health insurance with iVisitDoc?
Yes, many insurance plans are accepted. Coverage varies depending on your provider and plan. Check with your insurer for specific benefits related to telehealth services.
Can I get my thyroid levels tested through iVisitDoc?
At this time, lab testing is not available directly through our platform. You’ll need to upload recent thyroid panel results (within the past 12 months) if requesting a prescription longer than 30 days.
What is iVisitDoc’s prescription renewal policy?
You must have an existing diagnosis of hypothyroidism and have taken your medication in the last 6 months. Prescription renewals may require recent labs and are reviewed for safety and medical appropriateness.
What’s the difference between a prescription renewal and a refill?
A refill is when you use a pharmacy to get more of your medication under an active prescription. A renewal means your current prescription has expired or run out of refills and needs approval from a healthcare provider.
What if my provider can’t treat my condition through telehealth?
If your provider determines your condition needs further evaluation or in-person testing, they’ll refer you to a primary care provider for follow-up care.
Can I message my provider after my treatment plan?
Follow-up messaging availability may depend on the provider and the nature of your care. You’ll receive clear instructions after your visit if follow-up communication is necessary.
How does iVisitDoc protect my health information?
We use secure, HIPAA-compliant technology to safeguard your medical records and ensure your privacy at every step of your care journey.
About hypothyroidism
What are the risks of not taking my hypothyroidism medication?
Skipping or stopping thyroid medication like levothyroxine can lead to serious health issues. Without proper treatment, your body doesn’t produce enough thyroid hormone, which can result in:
Fatigue and weakness
Weight gain
Depression
Slowed heart rate
Memory problems or brain fog
Infertility
Goiter (enlarged thyroid)
In severe cases, it can progress to myxedema, a rare but life-threatening condition.
What are the symptoms of an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism)?
Common symptoms include:
Persistent fatigue
Weight gain despite normal eating habits
Dry skin and brittle hair
Sensitivity to cold
Constipation
Depressed mood
Slow heart rate
Puffy face
Hoarseness
Irregular or heavy menstrual periods
These symptoms may develop gradually and be mistaken for normal aging or other health issues.
